Denver & Rio Grande Western K-36 Class (2-8-2)


The D&RGW classified their steam locomotives by wheel arrangement and tractive effort. The K in the classification indicates a 2-8-2 Mikado, and the 36 indicates 36000 pounds tractive effort. All these locomotives were built by Baldwin for 3' narrow gauge.
This is 480 on the Denver & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad in July 2001.
